Our Story
Why I Started UNMYSTIC
For a long time, I found myself facing the same problem whenever I shopped for children’s clothing.
I would fall in love with a beautiful design, a thoughtful detail, or a colour that felt just right. Then I would check the fabric label and hesitate.
Sometimes the material felt uncomfortable against the skin. Sometimes it was not breathable enough. Other times, I simply could not understand why a children’s garment had been made from that particular fabric.
As a mother, I wanted clothing that was beautiful, but beauty alone was never enough.
I wanted pieces that felt good to wear, that suited the way children move, play and explore, and that could stay in our lives for longer than a single season.
Starting with the Fabric
Most clothing websites ask you to shop by age, size, colour or category.
At UNMYSTIC, I wanted to create another way to choose.
I wanted parents to be able to begin with the fabric.
A mother looking for soft wool should be able to find it easily. A family searching for breathable organic cotton should not need to open every product page and study every label. Someone choosing durable outerwear made with recycled materials should understand why that fabric was selected and how it works.
Fabric affects how a garment feels, how it performs and how long it can be worn.
By making fabric part of the shopping experience, I hope to make choosing children’s clothing feel simpler, more thoughtful and less overwhelming.
A Childhood Love of Making
My connection to clothing began long before I became a mother.
When I was young, I loved making clothes for my Barbie dolls. I often used pieces from my own old clothing, cutting and reshaping the fabric to create something new.
At the time, I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer.
Even now, I still love knitting because yarn can continue to change. A garment can be lengthened, repaired, reshaped and passed on. A sweater does not always have to end when a child grows out of it.
That idea has stayed with me.
Perhaps designing clothing is not only about creating something new. Perhaps it can also mean helping existing clothing continue its journey.
Thoughtfully Chosen, Not Endlessly Collected
UNMYSTIC is not meant to be a store filled with as many brands and products as possible.
Every brand and every piece is chosen carefully.
I look for thoughtful materials, practical design, comfort, durability and a clear reason for why a garment deserves a place in the collection.
Children need clothing that supports real life: running outside, sitting on the floor, exploring in the rain, staying warm in winter and feeling comfortable indoors.
My goal is not to offer endless choice.
It is to offer a smaller, more considered selection that parents can trust.
A Longer Journey for Every Piece
I also believe that clothing should have a life beyond its first owner.
A well-made piece can be passed down to a younger sibling, shared with another family, donated to someone who needs it or reused in a completely different way.
In the future, I hope UNMYSTIC can become part of that longer journey.
Clothing in good condition could be collected and passed on. Pieces that can no longer be worn might become something new: a small pet bed, an accessory, a textile object or another useful item.
Not every garment needs to become waste.
Sometimes an old piece of clothing is simply waiting for its next form.
For Little Explorers
UNMYSTIC was created for children, but it was also created for the people choosing for them.
For parents who read the fabric label.
For families who care about comfort and quality.
For those who believe that fewer, better-chosen pieces can mean more.
I am still at the beginning of this journey, and I know there is much more to learn.
But my hope is simple: to create a place where beautiful children’s clothing, thoughtful fabrics and a longer life for every piece can belong together.
